Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João (CHUSJ)

The Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João (CHUSJ) is located in the city of Porto and provides direct assistance to the population of the parishes of Bonfim, Paranhos and Campanhã, within the municipality of Porto, as well as the municipalities of Maia and Valongo.

It also acts as a reference center for the districts of Porto (with the exception of the municipalities of Baião, Amarante and Marco de Canaveses), Braga and Viana do Castelo.

CHUSJ also acts as a reference for wider geographical areas, in the context of Hospital Referral Networks, or even for wider areas in specific cutting-edge areas, where it acts as a referral of excellence for patients from several other geographical areas.

The management activity of CHUSJ is structured at intermediate management levels. Intermediate management structures bring together services (which can be organized into functional units) and organic units that, in an articulated manner, contribute to the pursuit of established objectives.

Organic units are simpler structures than services, with specific functions, equipped with their own human and/or technical resources, not integrated into services.

Unidade Local de Saúde de Matosinhos

Since 1999, the Matosinhos Local Health Unit (ULSM) stands out for its excellence in the provision of integrated health care, assuming itself as a reference for other health care providers. Pioneer and precursor, the oldest Local Health Unit in the country focuses on health promotion, in a global, integrated and personalized way, not only in health care at various levels, but also with the autarchy, schools and society bodies .

Instituto Português de Oncologia de Coimbra

The Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Coimbra Francisco Gentil, E.P.E. (IPOCFG, EPE) is a hospital unit that integrates the health care network of the National Health Service and the type A platform of the oncology hospital referral network, which gives it top responsibilities in the diagnosis and treatment of oncological disease throughout the Central Region of Portugal, with an estimated population of two million inhabitants.

ULS Leiria Region

It provides differentiated and quality healthcare to all users who require it, in conjunction with primary healthcare, with other hospitals integrated into the National Health Service network and with the National Network of Integrated Continuing Care, using appropriately all human and material resources deemed necessary, as well as developing itself according to demanding parameters of quality, economy, efficiency and effectiveness, also contributing to the economic and financial balance of the public sector as a whole. Its mission also includes ensuring research and professional training conditions for its employees and ensuring comfort, hygiene and safety conditions for users and employees.

ULS Amadora-Sintra

The Hospital is a healthcare unit operating 24 hours a day, providing diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation services on an outpatient basis. Located in Bairro da Cavaleira, in the parish of Algueirão-Mem Martins, it was built by the Sintra City Council to serve approximately 400,000 residents.

Established to enhance coordination across different levels of healthcare, ULS Amadora-Sintra represents a new model within Portugal’s National Health Service, focusing on proximity, efficiency, and quality in patient care.

Santa Maria Hospital

Inaugurated in 1953, Hospital de Santa Maria is one of Portugal’s largest hospitals and a reference in healthcare services. Operating 24 hours a day, it provides diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation in both inpatient and outpatient settings, while also serving as a center for medical education and research.

Originally designed as the Hospital Escolar de Lisboa to support medical training, it has since played a crucial role in the advancement of medicine in Portugal, establishing itself as a leading university hospital.
